Shari Jo Brouwer, of Milan, died Monday, November 29, 2010, under hospice care at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 48. Visitation wason Wednesday, December 1, from 5-7 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson. Funeral service was on Thursday, December 2, at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Pastor Cathie Rhodes officiating; granddaughter, Lexi Dietz sang "Jesus Loves Mea�_ and Brad Moen sang "The Old Rugged Crossa�_ and "In the Gardena�_ with organist, Judi Bohm as organist. The grandchildren were honorary and the active casketbearers were Larry Nelson, Jason Randall, Scott Stumlpf, Bul Tjaden, Craig Tripp and Dewey Van Der Pol. Interment was in Kviteseid Lutheran Cemetery in Milan. Shari Jo Brouwer was born on December 25, 1961, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Constance (Brubakken) Maximiek. At 6 weeks of age, she was adopted by Conrad and Theola Hofseth of Lyle, MN. She grew up in Lyle and graduated from Lyle High School. On October 4, 1996, Shari was married to Daryl Brouwer at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. They made their home in Milan and she was employed at several jobs that included Jennie-O-Foods at Montevideo, and most recently, a nursing assistant at Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cross-stitch, darts, computer and video games, and camping, especially at the Milan Bridge. After a courageous battle with cancer, Shari died on Monday, November 29, 2010, surrounded by her family at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 48 years, 11 months and 4 days. She is survived by her husband, Daryl of Milan: children: Jessica Brouwer and Jamie Brouwer of Milan and Daniel Brouwer of Montevideo; 6 grandchildren: Taylor Smith, Zachary Smith, Jordan Smith, Gaven Brouwer, Alexia Dietz, Ryan Brouwer, the 7th to be born on December 3, 2010; parents: Connie and Theola Hofseth of Dawson; birthmother, Connie Maximiek of Barnwell, SC; brothers: Jim Hofseth of Dawson, Curtis Hofseth of Mankato, Frank Terrapin of Waterboro, SC, John (Phyllis) Terrapin and Jess (Bess) Terrapin of Columbia, SC; sister, Faith Kemper of Barnwell, SC; in-laws: Bob and Alice Brouwer of Benson; other family and many friends.
