Shawn Harlan Eddy was born on January 17, 1973 to Harlan and Judy Eddy in Illinois. The family moved to Montevideo where Shawn spent part of his education in Montevideo. The family moved to South Carolina and that is where Shawn finished his high school education. Shawn would work odd jobs for a while eventually moving back to Montevideo and working at the Granite Falls Nursing Home and REM in Montevideo, where all the people loved him. He met his wife, Shanon when they were 6 at the family lake cabin and on a dare he was Shanon’s first “kiss”. They didn’t see each of a number of years and reconnected on Facebook in 2003. Shanon and Shawn were married on May 9, 2009.
Shawn loved fishing and hunting, music, TV shows, such as The Golden Girls, MASH, and Fraiser. He had a wonderful sense of humor and people would love to spend time with him because of his sense of humor and positive attitude. His “baby” was his beloved shih tzu named Molly. But most of all Shawn cherished time with family and friends. For all of his life Shawn would battle cancer, when he was born he had eye cancer and had an eye removed. Later in life the cancer would return and consume many other parts of his body and through it all he stayed positive and rarely complained. Even though Shawn didn’t attend church often he quietly would share with others close to him his faith and love of God.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Shannon; parents: Harlan Eddy and Judy Schultz; brothers: Darrin (Melinda) Spencer, Clarkfield, Brian Eddy, WI, Wayne Eddy, Seatle, WA, Terry Eddy, Seatle, WA; sister: Heather Simkiss, Jackson, Michigan; grandmother: Evelyn Eddy; aunts: Sharon Schroeder, Michelle (Bruce) Johnson as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jim Eddy, Joyce Thorton, and uncle George Thorton, Jr.
