Shirley Nyheim, of Wegdahl, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 73.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo. Rev. Willie Rosin will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28 at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Shirley Ione (Iverson) Nyheim was born August 3, 1940 at Echo, MN, the daughter of Ingval and Amanda (Sander) Iverson. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Dell Lutheran Church and graduated from Echo High School in 1958. Shirley was united in marriage with Paul Nyheim November 28, 1959. They made their home in Montevideo before moving to Sacred Heart and Lamberton. They moved to Wegdahl in 1970. She was a business partner with her husband in their trucking business for over 30 years. Shirley did a lot of the finish work on the home they built together. She enjoyed baking bread, quilting, sewing, needle point, gardening, canning, watching birds outside of her kitchen window and loved her Thumbelina Zinnias. She also loved jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles and was a diehard Minnesota sports fan. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved visiting with her children and grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; three children: Cheryl (Ed) Lipinski of Watson, MN, Jeff Nyheim of Dawson, MN, and Wayne (Dee) Nyheim of Altoona, IA; eleven grandchildren: Josiah (Kristen) Lipinski, Candice Lipinski, Amanda Lipinski, Jeremiah Lipinski, Christina Lipinski, Briana Nyheim, Katherine Nyheim, Austin Nyheim, Courtney Casner, Tanner Johnson, and Bailey Johnson; three great-grandchildren: Judah Lipinski, Carsen Casner, BrookLynn Casner; a brother, Roy (Marlyce) Iverson of Echo, MN, a sister, Luella (Karroll) Huckins of Lodi, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her siblings: Halvor, Elder, Lloyd, Bernard, Irene, Alice, Charlotte, Eunice, June, and Doris.
