Shizuka (Thompson) Marita Winker

November 22, 1941 — February 3, 2015

Shizuka “Suzi” (Thompson) Winker, of Milan, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Parkside Care Center in Little Chute, WI at the age of 73.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday , February 7, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Kristine Isder officiating.  Interment will be in Kvitesied Lutheran-Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church from noon until the time of the service on Saturday.

Shizuka Marita (Thompson) Winker was born November 22, 1941 in Japan. Attended vocational school in Japan and met Victor Thompson while he was in the Navy.  They were united in marriage November 16, 1966 in Nagasaki, Japan.  She came to the United States in 1968 and received her naturalization papers in 1976.  They moved to Milan, MN in 1972.  She worked at the Carlson Doll Factory and was a bartender at the Milan American Legion.  Victor died February 11, 1995.  Suzi was united in marriage with Francis Winker in April of 1997 and he died December 20, 2006.  She liked to crochet afghans and slippers.  She was well known for her egg rolls and chocolate chip cookies.  Suzi was very welcoming and adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by a step-son, Bruce (Doreen) Thompson of San Diego, CA; two daughters: Linda (Jamie) Smith of Appleton, WI and Betty (Matthew) Wolkow of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren: Nathan Thompson, Whitney Wolkow, Logan Wolkow, and Matalyn Wolkow; and other family living in Japan.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her in-laws: George and Leona Thompson; and her husbands: Victor Thompson and Francis Winker.
