Sibert Lawrence Lyngen

Sibert Lyngen of Montevideo and formerly of Milan died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 106.

Memorial services will be held Monday, September 24, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Rev. Tom Opoien will officiate and interment will be at Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Sibert Lawrence Lyngen was born November 14, 1900 in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Andrew and Antonette (Norby) Lyngen.    He grew up in the Milan area.  Sibert was united in marriage with Pearl Muller March 5, 1929 at Moose Lake, MN.  They lived in many communities in Minnesota before moving to Milan in 1949.  They ran a restaurant named Si’s Place for several years and later operated a furniture upholstery, refinishing, and antique business in Milan.  He moved to the Clara City Nursing Home in 1997 and to Luther Haven Nursing Home in 1998.  Sibert enjoyed gardening, fishing, animals, and playing pool.

He is survived by three daughters: Betty Lou Johnson of Milan, MN, Wanda (Kermit) Hermanson of Maple Plain, MN, and Gloria Jean (Ken) Cokeley of Rock, KS; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Pearl; three grandchildren; a son-in-law, Larry Johnson; three sisters: Alice Winters, Hilda Strand, Julia Stokke; and three brothers: George Lyngen, Henry Lyngen, and Alfred Lyngen.
