Silas Anderson, 89, of Dawson died June 27, 1998 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church.  Rev. Paul Christopher and Rev. Kendal Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, afternoon and evening at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M.

Silas Otto Anderson was born October 22, 1908 at Thor, IA the son of Knut and Christine (Peterson) Anderson.  Silas moved to the Dawson area with his family at the age of 5.  He was united in marriage with Dorothy Buchmann August 28, 1947 at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson, MN.  They farmed in the rural Dawson area.  Silas liked to participate in horse shows, trail rides, and old fashioned threshing bees.  In later years he enjoyed camping.  He was active at Grace Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and served as usher.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one brother, Martin Anderson and his wife Audrey of Dawson, MN; two sisters-in-law: Lillian Anderson of Shawnee, OK and Myrtle Anderson of Dawson, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters: Amanda Bergeland, Louise Jerpseth, and Dina Anderson; five brothers: Elmer, Herman, Andrew, Kermit, and one in infancy; and a foster brother Melvernus Tetzlaff and his wife Lois.
