Silda (Weckwerth) Adams

October 15, 1923 — November 3, 2015

Silda Adams, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rural Montevideo.  Rev. Ronald Hobbie will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:45 PM.

Silda Clara (Weckwerth) Adams was born October 15, 1923 in Montevideo, MN to Louis and Martha (Schulke) Weckwerth.  She was baptized on October 28, 1923 at St. John’s Lutheran Church and was also confirmed there on April 10, 1938.  She enjoyed the two and half mile walk in one direction for religious instruction on Fridays.  She attended rural school and remembered riding with her father in the sleigh during the winter.  She attended Montevideo High School and graduated in 1941.

After high school, Silda worked at the telephone office as an operator.  On May 27, 1947, Silda was united in marriage with Donald Adams and together, they had three children.  Silda worked along side her husband at Adams Motor Company in Montevideo for many years.  She was also a wonderful cook and was known for her famous “Hungry Boy Hotdish”.  She loved to travel and when she and Don went places, they drove to their destination.  Don loved to drive and Silda loved to ride along especially when they took trips to Florida.  She enjoyed visiting with people and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her three children: Marcia Cotter of St. Augustine, FL, Allan (Linda) Adams of Montevideo, MN, and William “Bill” (Bonnie) Adams of Livermore, CO; grandchildren: Martha (Brian) Nourse, Patrick Cotter, Stacia Beth Cotter, Emily (Dan) McGonigle, Heidi (Jared) Huseby, Warren Adams, Elizabeth Adams, Mark (Rachel) Adams, Timothy Adams, Rebekah (Scott Scheese) Adams, and Luke (Robin) Adams; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Alvin “Buddy” (Marion) Weckwerth, Merle (Verlie) Weckwerth, Louis (Juni) Weckwerth; sister-in-law, Marie Weckwerth; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Don; brothers: Lawrence (Charlotte) Weckwerth and Arnie Weckwerth; and her sister, Alice (Toby) Olson.
