Sivert Arneson

Sivert Arneson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Wayne D. Kopitzke officiating.  Burial was in Borgund Lutheran Cemetery.

Sivert Arneson was born on October 2, 1919 in Lac Qui Parle County, MN to Martin and Emma (Ulstad) Arneson.  He attended rural schools.  He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in North Africa and many other areas including Auckland, New Zealand, Bombay, India and Iran.  He was united in marriage to Helen Gustafson on October 7, 1950 at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He farmed for a number of years, later moving to Montevideo.  He served as custodian at Salem Lutheran Church for a number of years before retiring.  He was currently a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter: Renae Stahl of Palm Springs, CA; one granddaughter, Madeline Stahl; three sisters: Mabel Greseth of Lidgerwood, SD, Stella Bjorgan of Madison, MN, and Ella Miller of Appleton, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three  brothers: Mads, Manford and Arnold Arneson and four sisters: Olga Greseth, Amanda Storlien, Agnes Greseth and Nina Nelson; and 3 infant siblings.
