Solveig Belseth died December 13, 2010 at Home Front Assisted Living in Montevideo, MN at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 PM Solveig Judith (Wick) Belseth was born August 9, 1922 in Tunsberg Township, Chippewa County, MN to Anton and Mabel (Lund) Wick. Solveig was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Watson, MN, and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Solveig attended country school in Chippewa County. On December 14, 1950 she married Floyd Belseth at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. They farmed in Big Bend Township for many years. She later lived in Appleton and Marshall for several years before moving to Homefront in Montevideo in April of 2010. Solveig took great pride in her family and was very involved in activities that involved her family. She was involved in 4-H, was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, taught Sunday school for numerous years. Solveig was active in the Ladies Aid at Kviteseid Church, and maintained friendships through her sewing club. Solveig poured her heart into the work that she did for the ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens). She was a member of the ARC from 1957 - 1975, and was the chairperson of the Chippewa County branch for 4 years. She was instrumental in getting the hospitals to do the PKU test on all births. Solveig was at her happiest when she was "doing," whether it was raising a huge garden, canning whatever fit into a jar, raising and cleaning chickens, or farming along side her husband. When she found time to be in the house, she busied herself with sewing, quilting, baking angel food cakes, made from scratch no less as boxed foods had no place in her kitchen. She is survived by five children: Alan Belseth of Willmar, MN, Ann (Jamie) Baldwin of Savage, MN, Christine Belseth of Willmar, MN, Marilyn (Bob) Nordaune of Watson, MN, and Valerie (Larry) Buysse of Minneota, MN; ten grandchildren: Derek, Jason, Bryce, and Ryan Nordaune, Tammy Perez, Sheila and Emily Baldwin, and Nathan, Brittany, and Alex Buysse; two sisters: Julianna Belseth of Milan, MN and Alice Luechelt of Clarkfield, MN; and one brother, Clifford Wick of Montevideo, MN. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Floyd in 1989; and a brother, Edward Wick.
