Sophie Graue, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Jack Baumgarn officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Sophie Elizabeth (Knight) Graue was born on August 7, 1921 in Montevideo, MN to George and Elizabeth (Aeikens) Knight. She was baptized on April 14, 1925 and confirmed on May 3, 1936, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. On October 22, 1940 she was united in marriage to Harold E. Graue in Montevideo. They lived in Montevideo, Lynd, Brewster and Worthington, MN and lived in Wyoming for a short time before returning to Montevideo. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 7 ½ years. She enjoyed cooking, canning and being a homemaker.
Sophie is survived by nine children: Ronald of Brandon, SD; Kenneth of Sioux Falls, SD; Steven of Ellsworth, MN; Lionel of Benson, MN; Sandra Cawley of Rockford, MN; Marlene Savells of Kasson, MN; Evelyn Alonzo of Tucson, AZ; Patricia Knight of Rochester, MN and Jane Rostomily of Tucson, AZ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a sister, Bessie Gottschalk of Aitken, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 1979, three sons: Herman, Jerrold and Stanley, and by a brother, Alvin Knight.
