Spencer Kvam, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 86. Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Bergen Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Weston officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 6 P.M. with a prayer service at 5:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Spencer Odell Kvam was born on August 29, 1924 in Montevideo, MN to Henry and Ovidia (Rasmussen) Kvam. He was baptized at Stony Run Lutheran and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Churches. He attended rural school and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1941. He graduated from Windom College and attended St. Olaf College. On July 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Eloise June Ness at the parsonage home of Rev. I.O. Melom in Montevideo. He was a long-time farmer until retiring. He moved into Montevideo and was currently residing at Brookside Manor. He was an active member of Bergen Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Sons of Norway. He enjoyed fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, University of Minnesota sports, Twins games, and loved trees. He liked to drive around and check out crops and especially enjoyed being with and talking about his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, E. June; three children: Spencer (and Peggy) Kvam of Granite Falls, Karen (and Kevin) Tadd of Montevideo and David (and Kimberly) Kvam of Granite Falls; and nine grandchildren: Eloise Kvam, Kathryn Kvam, Kyle Tadd, Nicholas (and Dani) Kvam, Julia Kvam, Kari Tadd, Molly Kvam, Steven Kvam, Isak Kvam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ovidia Kvam.
