Stacey Lea Nelson was born on August 13, 1980, in Marshall, MN. She was baptized on March 9, 1986, at First Lutheran Church in Marshall and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson on October 27, 1996. She attended the Dawson Boyd Schools, where she was on the girls' basketball and softball teams and a member of FLA. She enjoyed basketball, softball, being with friends, dancing, and listening to music, especially one of her favorites, "Girls," by the Beastie Boys. She was also active in her church youth group. She successfully completed her high school diploma and was planning on attending Minnesota West at Pipestone. Stacey died on Thursday, January 13, 2000, in Fairmont, MN, at the age of 19.
She is survived by her parents Larry (Colleen) Nelson of Dawson and Robin (Joe) Negrete, Jr. of Worthington; brothers and sister: Tom, Patrick, Keith, and Troy Nelson of Dawson; Joe Negrete III of Sioux Falls, Bryce Negrete of Marshall, and Amy Negrete of Austin; grandparents: Joe Jackson of Tracy; Neva Jackson of Minneota; Marvin and Rosie Nelson of Dawson; Janice Nelson of Clarkfield; and Ray and Delores Przymus of Marshall; great-grandmother, Ida Nelson of Madison; nieces and nephew, Cejai Negrete of Austin and Brianna Negrete and Joseph Negrete IV of Sioux Falls; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by great-grandparents: Tillman Nelson and Oscar and Margaret Lindquist; and uncle, Randy Jackson.
