Stanley Laumb, formerly of Montevideo, died on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at the age of 76.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
Stanley Eugene Laumb was born on December 13, 1924 in Chippewa Co., MN to Fred and Ida (Lovhaug) Laumb. He was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo by Rev. Mason and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church by Rev. Jenson. He attended rural schools and Milan High School. He served in the US Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacificwhere hewas severely wounded. On Feb. 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Anderson in Watertown, SD. They lived in Montevideo and Watson areas until moving to Minneapolis in 1953. He worked for the University of Minnesota on the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses until he retired due to illness. He was a member of the VFW Post in Milan, MN, American Legion Post 2001 in Minneapolis, MN and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a proud 1998 charter member of the World war II Memorial in Washington, DC.
He is survived by his wife Rose; a son, Steven Laumb and his wife Mary of Crystal, MN; a daughter, Karen Gherity and her husband Tom of Minneapolis; 3 grandchildren, Anthony Gherity and his wife Stephanie, Thomas Gherity and Timothy Laumb; and a great grandson, Michael Gherity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Ida Laumb.
