Stanley Reeves, of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 91.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on September 12, 2016.
Stanley Thomas Reeves was born September 17, 1924 at Catford, London, England the son of Thomas and Gwendolyn (Gray) Reeves. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Church attended Catford Central School. Stan served in the Royal Air Force during WW II. In early 1943, he met Divina Stuart, while he was training as a navigator at the air base in Winnipeg. After his training was completed and he returned to England, they kept up correspondence. On April 14, 1946 he was united in marriage to Divina Stuart at St. Andrew’s Church in Catford, a suburb of London, England. They lived in Catford until he received his discharge from the Royal Air Force in 1947. They returned to Canada in 1948, living in Winnipeg until 1956. Stanley was offered a job with a U.S. insurance company, necessitating a move to Mankato, MN. In September of 1960, they moved to Montevideo, MN, where they have resided since. Stan worked as an insurance claims adjuster and was also a part-time police officer in Montevideo from 1962 until retiring in 1997. He enjoyed his MG cars, collecting guns, and hunting.
He is survived by his children: Marianne Reeves of Montevideo, MN and David Reeves of Canada; a sister, Elma Joyce of Bexleyheath, Kent, England; a brother-in-law, Cyril Fenn of England; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Divina in 2006; a sister, Joyce Fenn; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Joyce.
