Steve Trost

Steve Trost died Friday, October 22, 2021 at his home in Marietta at the age of 66.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison.  Rev. Ron Nichols and Fr. Shawn Polman will officiate and interment will be at St. Edwards Cemetery in Minneota.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Steven Mark Trost was born December 29, 1954 in Topeka, KS the son of Merton and Mildred (Anderson) Trost.  He attended elementary school in Chokio and high school in Madison.  Steve served in the MN Army National Guard from 1972 until 1979.  He was united in marriage with Karen Polman September 21, 1991 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Madison.  They moved to Marietta where he was the owner and mechanic at Marietta Auto.  He loved working on cars, hot rods, and his 1966 Chevy pick-up.  Steve was a member of the Marietta City Council, the Marietta American Legion, and a past member of the Marietta Fire Dept.  He enjoyed camping, gardening, snow removal, mowing, hunting, and collecting knives made by his son Tony.  He especially enjoyed construction, building trailers, and remodeling with his brother Jim.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; three children: Thonya  (fiance Scott Fogarty) Roed, Tony (Sarah) Roed and Lisa Benson; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings: Pam (Paul) Struck of Madison, MN, Pat (Duane) Michaelson of St. Joseph, MN, Barbara Trost of San Diego, CA, James Trost of Madison, MN, and Todd Trost of Madison, MN; his father-in-law Edward Polman of Clarkfield, MN; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Jean) Polman of Marshall, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Polman; sister-in-law, Kathy Polman; and a niece, Sarah Trost.
