Steve Nokleby, died on Friday, March 8, 2013 at his home in rural Montevideo at the age of 61. Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in the Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Steven Craig Nokleby was born on April 4, 1951 in Montevideo, MN to Arnold and Eileen (Anderson) Nokleby. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He attended rural school, Milan Public Schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1969. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and Southwest State in Marshall, MN. On June 13, 1982 he was united in marriage to Susan Christenson at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson, MN. He farmed in Mandt Township and was a long-time Pioneer Seed and Precision Planting Dealer. He was a life-long member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and served on various leadership positions in the church. He was a member of the Chippewa Soil and Water Conservation Board, Chippewa River Watershed Project Board, the Corn Growers Board and in 1989 was named the Conservation Farmer of the Year. He enjoyed collecting cast iron tractor seats and other farming memorabilia, fishing, traveling and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; children: Jessica (and Kaleb) Schwendemann of Benson, MN and Adam Nokleby of Albany, MN; his parents, Arnold and Eileen Nokleby of Montevideo; five sisters: Susan Nokleby of Bemidji, MN; Gail (and Randy) Strickler of Clovis, NM; Gwen (and Tom) Bowler of Montevideo, MN; Janet Nokleby (and Olindo Lammawin) of Moorpark, CA and Jill (and John) Kaiser of Brooklyn Park, MN; a mother-in-law, Myrt Christenson of Benson, MN; two sisters-in-law: Janice Baranczyk of Oconto Falls, WI and Diane Christenson of Willmar, MN as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Alvin Christenson and his grandparents.
