Susan Moseng passed away at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 30 days surrounded by lots of love with her husband, sons, daughters-in-law and three of her granddaughters by her side at the Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from complications of open heart surgery.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 2:30 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter, rural Montevideo with Rev. Matt Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and will continue from 2 to 2:30 pm at the church on Friday.
Susan Jane Moseng, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was born on August 21, 1940 in Alban Township, Grant County, Milbank, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Andrew and Ferne (Dotson) Wagner. She was baptized and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Milbank, South Dakota. She went to grade school at Alban #6 and graduated from Milbank High School in 1958.
On April 11, 1964 she was united in marriage to Russell Moseng from Dawson, MN at the Methodist Church in Montevideo, MN and to this union 4 children were born: Jodi, Brent, Jamie and Randy. After they were married, they lived on a farm in Baxter Township outside of Dawson. In the fall of 2002, Russ and Sue moved into a quaint home in Dawson and made it their forever home filled full of love and laughter with their family.
Susan loved to garden, all flowers were her favorites, she was proud of her garden and yard and her and Russ worked hard to keep them pristine. She was also known for her amazing cooking and baking skills, and was proud to make treats of pies, cookies, cakes, breads, and bars to sell at the local farmers market. She loved to make her special arrangements of treats at Christmas time for others as well as her family. Sue was a talented seamstress, loved a great find at a garage sale, collector of vintage glassware, and took pride in decorating her house and yard at holiday time, especially Christmas. She had a strong work ethic and a very kind and loving heart.
Susan is survived by her husband of 57 years, Russell; sons: Brent (Sarah), Randy (Jody); daughters: Jodi (Alan), Jami (Chad); grandchildren: Emily, Haley, Danielle, Ellie, Kyan, Hudsyn, Tasha, Devin, Parker, Payton; great-grandchildren: Bowie, Watson, Trey, Peter, Augusta and baby boy due in December.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Ferne; sister, JoAnn Schupp; brother-in-law, Ken Schupp; mother and father-in law, Ruth and Edwin Moseng; sister-in-law and brother-in law, Arlene and Dean Runyon, and other family and friends.
