Sylvester "Christy" Burnett Christenson

Sylvester “Christy” Christenson, of Watson, died on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 85.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Sylvester Burnett Christenson was born on March 7, 1920 in Chippewa County, MN the son of Carl and Alma (Alstad) Christenson.  He served in the US Army Cavalry in the Philippines during WW II.  On January 22, 1944, he was united in marriage with Norma Tongen at the home of LaVern Tongen near Canby.  After their marriage they resided one year on a farm southwest of Montevideo, eight years in Montevideo, and many years 2 miles southeast of Montevideo.  They were blessed with two daughters: KeEtta and Colleen.  Norma died March 25, 1975.  Christy worked as a truck driver for many years as well as Monte CB Sales.  He later lived in Clarkfield, Watson, and Copper Glen. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed talking on CB, drawing, oil painting, woodworking and carving, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by two daughters: KeEtta Enevoldsen and her husband Paul of Montevideo, MN and Colleen Jordahl and her husband Gordy of Dawson, MN; six grandchildren: Jeremy (Stacey) Enevoldsen, Nathan (Patti) Jordahl, Kevin (Jenny) Enevoldsen, Melissa (Marty) Moe, Aaron (Kristi) Enevoldsen, and Rebecca Bond; ten great-grandchildren: Brandon Jordahl, Vanessa Jordahl, Mitchell Moe, Jordan Bond, Marcus Moe, Kiana Enevoldsen, Emily Bond, Merrick Moe, Dalton Enevoldsen, and Karley Enevoldsen; and one sister, Aleda (Marvin) Walstrom of Northfield, MN.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Norma in 1975; an infant brother, Wayne; and one sister, Virginia (John) Smith.
