Ted Grahn

March 28, 1934 — January 21, 2013

Ted Grahn, of Dawson, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson at the age of 78.

Prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, evening at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with Pastor Kristine Isder officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home Thursday evening.

Theodore Sebelius Grahn was born March 28, 1934 at Rhinelander, WI the son of Rev. Gunnard and Hulda (Carlson) Grahn.  He was baptized April 22, 1938 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rhinelander and confirmed September 5, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin.  He moved with his family to Dawson in 1951 and graduated from Dawson High School in 1952.  He attended Gustavis in St. Peter and Augsburg in Minneapolis.  Ted served in the US Army 1954-1957 and was stationed in Germany.  He was united in marriage with Carolyn Bjornlie January 26, 1958 at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church.  They lived in Minneapolis, Wayzata, Dawson, Casa Grande, AZ and returned to Dawson in 1986.  Ted loved to farm and was also a cashier at Prairies Edge Casino.  He enjoyed gardening and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four children: Deborah (Doug) Bothun of Dawson, Scott Grahn of Bartow, FL, Heather (Jon Paul) Pringle of Hanley Falls, and Heidi (Kelly) Erickson of Fulda; eight grandchildren: Danielle, Ryan, Nikole, Cody, Zoe, Jakob, Austin, and Kaiden; three great-grandchildren: Bennett, Trent, and Skyler; three brothers: Dale (Joyce) Grahn of Duluth, Carl (Janice) Grahn of Australia, and Norman (Elaine) Grahn of Sierra Vista, AZ; a sister-in-law, Sandy Peterson of Dawson, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Pastor Gunnard and Hulda Grahn; his in-laws, Harold and Edith Bjornlie; a brother, Gunnard, Jr. (Veronica) Grahn; a sister, Ruth (Edward) Greenwood; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Peterson.
