Tena (Erickson) Graves

Tena Graves, formerly of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, January 28, 1997 at the Excelsior Nursing Home in Excelsior, MN at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 1, 1997 at 1:30 PM at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Tena (Erickson) Graves was born on August 27, 1910 in Minnesota Falls Township of Yellow Medicine Co., MN to Henry and Anna Erickson.   She attended school in Wood Lake and graduated from Hanley Falls High School in 1930.  On August 27, 1931 she was united in marriage to Orville Graves.  They lived in Montevideo, and after Orville's death in 1959 she took care of the insurance business.  She moved to Florida in 1963 and returned to Montevideo in 1964.  In 1969 she built a home in Minnetonka and in August of that year was united in marriage to Dimetrio Halphen Rios.  She worked for many years at Jack & Jill Children's Clothing Store at Knollwood Center in St. Louis Park, MN.

She is survived by one daughter, Julie Hernandez and her husband Mario of Hopkins, MN; three sons: Ronald and his wife Martha of Hollywood, FL, Keith and his wife Cathy of Peoria, IL, and Steve and his wife Karen of Shorewood, MN; five grandchildren: Paula Graves of West St. Paul, MN, Michele (Jim) McArdle of Oakdale, MN, Marcel Graves of Hollywood, FL, Sergio Hernandez of Hopkins, MN, and April Graves of Shorewood, MN;  two sisters: Adeline Koch and her husband Herman and Idell Dahlager and her husband Elmer, both of Montrevideo, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband, Orville; two brothers: Irwin and Kenneth Erickson; and two sisters: Inga Farmen and Duella Erickson.
