Theodora (Helgeson) Brekke

Theodora Brekke, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday June 26, 1996 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday June 29, 1996 at 1:00 P.M. at the Luther Haven Nursing Home Chapel.  Rev. Lois Knutson will officiate and interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon until 5:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at Luther Haven.

Theodora (Helgeson) Brekke was born on May 4, 1904 in Chippewa Co., MN to Thomas and Dorothea (Johnson) Helgeson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  She was united in marriage to Alfred Brekke on May 11, 1926 at the Big Bend Parsonage by Rev. Jensen.  They farmed north of Maynard in Chippewa Co. until 1974 when they moved into Montevideo.  She became a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home in 1988.  She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and participated in it's Women's Groups and Circle.

She is survived by a five sisters: Cora Lund of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah Tostenson of Montevideo, MN, Karen Schultz and her husband Melvin of St. Paul, MN, Margaret Bratland of Worthington, MN, and Helen Meyer and her husband Vernon of Sacred Heart, MN; one brother, Edward Helgeson and his wife Gladys of Clarkfield, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred in 1979; two sisters: Caroline Gilbertson and Thea Gilsrud; and four brothers - Arthur, Clifford, Norman, and Walter Helgeson
