Theresa Fonkert

Theresa Fonkert died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 71.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison.  Burial will be at Dawson Covenant Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5-7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Theresa Ann Fonkert was born August 4, 1949 at Marion, OH the daughter of Wayne and Juanita (Duffy) Shephard.  She moved with her family to Haydenville, MN and graduated from high school in 1968.  She was united in marriage with Terry Fonkert September 20, 1969 at Dawson Covenant Church.  They made their home on a farm before moving in to Dawson in 1991.  Theresa did home daycare for several years before working as a CNA at Johnson Memorial Care Center.  She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and dancing.

She is survived by her children: Gerrit (Angela) Fonkert of St. Joseph, MN, Eric (fiance Nicole) Fonkert and step-son, Jaxson of Alexandria, MN, and Kim (Kevin Bellefueille) Fonkert of Dawson, MN; five grandchildren: Evelyn and Elsie Fonkert, Gabby Fonkert, and Ethan and Gracie Bellefeuille; her father, Dale Olson of Dawson, MN; two sisters: Tamara (Paul) Baker of Madison, MN and Karen (Kevin) Wolfmeyer of New Berlin, WI; one brother, Brett (Suzette) Olson of Farmington, MN; a sister-in-law, Darline Shephard of Shakopee, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Wayne and Juanita Shephard; her step-mother, Toots Olson; her in-laws, Peter and Grace Fonkert; her husband, Terry Fonkert in 2007; and two brothers: Michael Shephard and John Olson.
