Thomas Gillott of Montevideo and formerly of Dawson, died on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Sun Bridge in Montevideo at the age of 83

Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Dawson with Rev. Herb Rotunda officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, April 28th with the family being present from 5:30 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:45 PM and a Masonic Services at 7:00 PM, all at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Thomas Albert Gillott was born on January 12, 1923 in Dawson, MN to Elmer G. and Florence (Peterson) Gillott.  He grew up in Dawson and graduated from Dawson High School in 1941. He served in the US Navy from 1942 - 1945 and later served from 1951 - 1952.  In December, 1952 he was united in marriage to Alice Johnson in Dawson, and they had a son, Tracy. He was later united in marriage to Lois Burgan.  He worked in the Dawson area as a crop sprayer until he had a serious crop spraying accident in 1953. He moved to Minneapolis and worked for Control Data for many years prior to retiring in 1988 and moving back to Dawson.  He was currently living in Montevideo, MN, where he had moved in 2003. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, riding motorcycles and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Dawson. He was a member of the Shriners, American Legion, VFW and was a Mason.  He had an ongoing passion for airplanes and flying.  He never gave up his dream of flying again, which kept him young at heart.  His family believes he is now free to fly once again.

He is survived by a son, Tracy Gillott and his wife Julie of Montevideo; three grandchildren: Nicole Danderand of Hays, KS, Jade Gillott and his fiancé Vickie Buseman of St. Cloud, MN and Katie Gillott of Hutchinson, MN; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Fletcher and her husband George of Vancouver, Washington; a niece, nephew, cousins; and lifelong friends, Harold and Sylvia Hanson of Dawson, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois in 1973.
