Thorlen Gordon Berg was born February 6, 1927 in Baxter Township the son of Ludvig and Gina (Home) Berg.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s  Lutheran Church.  Thor graduated from Dawson High School in 1945 and then he started farming with his dad.  He was united in marriage with Ardyce (Boraas) on April 11, 1953 at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church.  They made their home and farmed in the Baxter Township area.  Thor also milked cows for many years.  He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed camping, woodworking, and working on projects with his grandkids.  He loved finding new treasures to add to his collection of toy tractors.  He especially enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and watching their sporting events.  Thor was active at Heritage Hill and was instrumental in building the church there.  He farmed into his 80's and then took great pride in his lawn, mowing the grass before it was needed and spraying the dandelions before they bloomed.

He is survived by his wife, Ardyce; two children: Carol Berg of Plymouth, MN and Deborah (Curt) Bunnell of Maple Grove, MN; two grandchildren: Abby and Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: Lloyd and Roscoe Berg; and a sister, Gudrun Olson.
