Tilla Schuerer, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 94.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 1:30 PM at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. David DeMars officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Tilla Jerve Schuerer was born on October 13, 1909 in Chippewa Co., MN to Anton and Rachel (Thompson) Jerve. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On July 11, 1944 she was united in marriage to Willie Schuerer at Yuba City, CA. On October 27, 1949 they adopted an 8 month old son, Thomas. She was a lifelong member of Big Bend Lutheran Church, and was faithful in the Young People’s Society, Dorcus Society, Choir and in later years Circles and Ladies Aid. She was a Sunday School Teacher for 25 years, Sunday School Superintendent and held several office jobs. When her son Thomas graduated from Bible Class, she thought it was time for her to graduate from Sunday School also. She enjoyed helping people where ever and when ever needed. Tilla was a hard worker on the farm and helped her husband as a carpenter in his wood shop. She moved off the farm into Montevideo in 1987 and was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Schuerer of Danube, MN; grandsons, Thomas, Jr. and David Schuerer of Danube, MN a brother, Rueben Jerve of Montevideo; a sister, Agnes Dvergsten of Clara City, MN as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie in 1964; by 3 sisters: Lillian Larson, Carrie Lauritsen and Marlys Skogrand and by 5 brothers: Gerhard, Tosten, Sherman, Julian and Roland Jerve.
