Timothy Gilbertson was born on March 9, 1952 to Harris and Glorietta (Gulden) Gilbertson in Montevideo. He grew up with his twin, Tom on the farm north of Montevideo and graduated from Milan High School in 1970. Tim married Jody Bakke November 23rd, 1974 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They shared 42 years together and had 2 children, Stacey and Matthew.
Tim served in the National Guard for several years alongside his work on the farm and his job as a lineman at Minnesota Valley REC. Tim worked his way from lineman up to Operations Manager during his time at REC until his retirement in 1998. Retirement wasn't really in Tim's vocabulary...he loved his profession and he continued to work in the Power line business first with Utili-Trax power line construction for several years before being asked to join Meeker Cooperative in Litchfield as Operations Line Superintendent. While still working at Meeker, Tim started his own business EUCC, Electric Utility Contract Consulting. He retired from Meeker in July of 2015. In 2015 Tim started his current job with Highline Construction Inc. Tim had a very strong work ethic that began in his youth on the farm and carried on until the end of his life. Whatever he did, he gave it 110%. He truly loved what he did and the people he worked with. It brought him much joy.
Tim's family also brought him much joy and he was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa. He would drop everything to spend time with his grandkids. They were his greatest joy and he was theirs. Tim could often be found with his dog, Riley and the grandkids off on an adventure that usually included ice cream and other treats.
Tim always loved hunting and fishing, especially big game. He was able to go on several elk hunts and big fishing trips in his lifetime and had some great stories to share about he and his friend, Rodney's exploits.
Tim had a way about him that was so special. First of all, he always had a smile. Even when he had reason to be down, he stayed up. He always had a calm and common-sense approach to everything he did. He made friends wherever he went. He was great at listening to people and was good at helping find solutions to challenges, both at work and home. He was so loved and respected by many. He will be greatly missed.
Tim is survived by his children: Matt (Miranda) Gilbertson, Stacey (Jeremy) Enevoldsen; grandchildren: Parker Gilbertson, Tyler, Abigail, and Levi Enevoldsen; father-in-law: Robert Bakke; sisters-in-law: Holly Gilbertson, Sue (Rick) Brunette, Linda Borgio; brother-in-law, Bill (Katherine) Borgio; special fur friend: Riley; nieces, nephews, and lots of good friends and hunting buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jody; brothers: Tom Gilbertson, Gary Gilbertson; and mother-in-law Jane Bakke.
