Todd Buer

Todd Buer died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be available to be viewed on the Providence Valley Lutheran Church Facebook page at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 19.

Because of Covid precautions, a walk through visitation will be held  on Friday from 5-8:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Todd Emerson Buer was born December 12, 1934 in Dawson, MN the son of Eldred and Mae (Carlson) Buer.  He was baptized April 7, 1935 at the Presbyterian Church in Canby and confirmed June 2, 1962.  Todd graduated from Madison High School and chose to help his dad on the farm instead of continuing his formal education.  He served in the US Army as a cryptographer in Germany.  Todd was united in marriage with Arlys Femrite January 27, 1962 at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church.  They lived for 52 years southwest of Dawson.  He farmed and also owned Todd’s Farm Hydraulics.  He was always learning and read constantly.  Todd enjoyed mechanics and fixing on anything with a motor.  He wrote poetry, enjoyed rock collecting, raising flowers and gardening.  Todd also loved to travel as well as fishing and hunting.  He was an active member of Providence Valley Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and served on the church council.  After retiring, they moved into Dawson.

He is survived by his wife, Arlys; four children: Brett (Rose) Buer of Dawson, Kari (Rob) Johnson of Sacred Heart, Troy (Natalie) Buer of Madison, and Shane (Jill) Buer of Dawson: twelve grandchildren: Heath, Cade, Tomka, Severine, Signora, Hannah, Josiah, Naomi, Daniel, Blake, Tyler, and Jackson; two sisters: Mary (Kenneth) Stamp of Burnsville and Sandra (Sarge) Duis of Canby; two brothers: Reid (Jackie) Buer of Madison and Curtis (Irma) Buer of Canby; an uncle, Francis Buer of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Heath Eldred Buer; and his in-laws, Alfred and Mabel Femrite.

Memorials are preferred to the Lac qui Parle County Hope Network and the food shelf.
