Trudy J. (Haff) Flowers

November 27, 1945 — January 17, 2015

Trudy Jean Flowers, 69, of Montevideo, MN, peacefully and gracefully passed from this life, surrounded by family and friends, Saturday, January 17th  at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital due to health complications from a chronic illness.

A Celebration of Life Service for Trudy will be hosted by her sons and Pastor Gwen Bohlke at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo from 4pm - 7:30pm Friday, January 23rd, 2015.

Trudy was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, attending high school in Milan and graduating with the Class of 1963. She married Ronald K. Potter in June of 1963, and the union was blessed with 3 children: Ronda, Eric, and Luke.

She moved to Park Rapids in 1985 and married Charles Flowers Jr. in April of 1990. She returned to Montevideo, MN in 2005 to be with her family.

Throughout her life, she made many friends working a wide variety of jobs including Potter Electric, Timberlane Lodge, Sammy’s Clothing, Guida Log Homes, Erickson Medical Clinic, Flowers Excavating and Septic Service, Jones Law Office, and most recently, the Chippewa County Veterans Service Office. She was an instrumental and founding member of the Antique Tractor and Engine Club, Hubbard Township Board and numerous other activities and organizations.

She is survived by her mother Violet Haff of Montevideo, MN; two loving sons: Chief Petty Officer Eric (Kristen) Potter, USN of Chesapeake, VA, and Chief Petty Officer Luke (Kimberly) Potter, USN of Virginia Beach, VA; her brothers: Lowell (Linda) Haff, Robert (Dawn) Haff  and William (Paulette) Haff, all of Montevideo, MN; her sisters: Kay (Dave) Teichrow of Storden, MN and Carol (Don) Schutz of Montevideo, MN; and her grandchildren: Kimberly and Matthew Potter of Chesapeake, VA, and Aileen and Elias Potter of Nashville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Haff; her daughter, Ronda Potter; and grandson, Hank Potter.

Trudy will be greatly missed for her fiery sass, honesty and unique ability of incorporating everyone into her family.

Trudy’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Ona Furrow, Crystal Gustafson, Tim and Chrys Kolhei, David and Susan Rugroden, Linda Haff and especially Karen Kuno for the gracious and loving support of her family during this time.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 2500 University Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414  in the name of Paulette Haff.
