Sarah Augeson, 85, of Montevideo died November 24, 1999 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Lois D. Knutson will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday after 4 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M.
Valborg S. “Sarah” Augeson was born December 19, 1913 at Halstad, MN the daughter of Ludvig and Esther (Forsberg) Norum. She attended school and grew to adulthood there. Sarah was united in marriage with Wayne Augeson April 18, 1936 at Halstad, MN. They lived in North Dakota before moving to Buffalo Lake and later to the family farm northeast of Montevideo. After 1959, they owned and operated Wayne’s Station. They retired to Watson in 1982. Wayne died November 9, 1986. Sarah moved to Luther Haven July 1, 1990.
She is survived by four children: Sally Groothuis of Montevideo, MN, David Augeson and his wife Marcie of Montevideo, MN, DeWayne Augeson and his wife Evelyn of Stewartville, MN, and Cheryl Augeson of Marshall, MN; nine grandchildren: Laurie (Terry Larson) Groothuis, Gary (Kathleen) Groothuis, Gene (Joy) Augeson, Thomas Augeson, Kevin (Peggy) Augeson, Chad (Jennifer) Augeson, Mitchell (Stephanie) Augeson, Jeremy Augeson and Nathan Augeson; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers: Richard Norum and his wife Gladys of Bayport, MN, Russell Norum and his wife Kay of Pierre, SD, and Wallace Norum of Pierre, SD; three sisters: Emma Sklar of St. Paul, MN, Helen Ekstrom of St. Paul, MN, and Ida Augeson and her husband Walter of Montevideo, MN; one brother-in-law, Donavin Dodge of Cokato, MN; and one sister-in-law, Gloria Norum of St. Paul, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Wayne; one son-in-law, Norman Groothuis; three brothers: Adolph Norum, Arnold Norum, and Norman Norum; two sisters: Edith Dodge and Elsie Ness; and three brothers-in-law: Walter Ekstrom, Harry Ness, and George Sklar.
