Vera Larson

Vera Larson, of Appleton, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at  Appleton Area Health Services in Appleton, at the age of 87.

Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 10:30AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Appleton with Father Jeremy Kucera officiating.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Appleton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Vera Ann (Mecl) Larson was born July 30, 1930 to William and Florence (Whitteman) Mecl at their home in rural Willow River, Minnesota.  She graduated from Willow River High School in 1947.  Vera Worked at Dix Café in Moose Lake, Minnesota, where she met her husband, Lyle E. Larson.  Vera and Lyle were united in marriage on June 19, 1948.  Together they had six Children.  Vera and Lyle moved to Milan, Minnesota on March 1, 1976.

Vera was very well known for her pancakes, potato klub, and Christmas goodies.  She also loved nothing more than spending time with her family which would involve playing baseball games, card games, board games, and  ping-pong. In Vera’s house anyone was welcomed.  She also enjoyed spending time outside doing all types of yard work.  Lyle and Vera wintered in Texas where they enjoyed dancing and listening to music.

Vera suffered a stroke on April 7, 2009 and has resided at the Appleton Area Health Services Care Center ever since.

Vera is survived by her husband, Lyle; children: Bill (Babe) Larson, Willow River, Sue Streed, Milan, Lyle (Lisa) Larson, Big Bend, Bob (Denise) Larson, Sugarland, TX, and Kathy Green, Crookston; son-in-law, Troy Bartolo, Anoka; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Mary Bartolo; grandson, Paul Larson; and son-in-law Greg Streed.
