Vera Mae Wittman, of Cheyenne, WY., died on June 27, 2008 in Cheyenne, WY at the age of 77. Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with David Henke the officiant. Interment was in the Florida Lutheran Cemetery of rural Canby, MN. Vera Mae (Bjornstad) Wittmann was born on January 16, 1931 in Marietta, MN to Martin and Elma (Berndt) Bjornstad. She grew up in the Marietta area and attended school there. She lived in Montevideo for several years working at Rosy's Supper Club. In 1952 she followed her brother Arnold to Cheyenne, WY. On October 18, 1958 she was united in marriage to Frank Wittmann in Laramie, WY. She worked at various service jobs until she settled into working at the VFW Post #1881 in Cheyenne as a cocktail waitress for twenty-five years. In her later years she was a caretaker to her husband until his death in 2005. She was a member of the Archer Friendly Club and was quite active in their charity work. Vera is survived by two children: Victoria Henke and her husband David of Rathdrum, ID and Joseph Wittmann of Cheyenne, WY; 7 grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, Luke, John and Rachel Henke and Thomas and Jamie Wittmann; a sister, Velma Schmidt and her husband Walt of Montevideo; a brother, Donald Bjornstad and his wife Doris of Moorhead, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews in Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 2005 and by two brothers, Arnold and Waldo Bjornstad.
