Verdie Aamot, of Montevideo, died on Monday, April 2, 2001 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 79.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Verdie Howard Aamot was born on September 13, 1921 in Montevideo, MN to Arthur and Nora (Anderson) Aamot. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran and attended schools in Graceville, MN and Montevideo. On August 31, 1946 he was united in marriage to Virginia Ahlgren at Como Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. He worked at Bolt’s Grocery, A & P & National Tea Grocers & Montgomery Ward in Montevideo. He also worked at plant maintenance at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital and at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, MN before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Montevideo, MN; one son, Lawrence Aamot and his wife Cindy of Forest Lake, MN; one daughter, Patricia Thomas of Athens, GA; and four grandchildren: Jessica, Manda, Nathan, and Brian Aamot.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Marley Aamot.
