Verna Anderson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 87. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 20 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the services on Tuesday.
Verna (Norrgard) Anderson was born on January 1, 1920 in Bogus Brook Township near Milaca, MN to Verner and Helga (Johnson) Norrgard. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca and graduated from Milaca High School. She attended the Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, NB and served as a Cadet Nurse during World War II. On September 9, 1961 she was united in marriage to Ellsworth Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and they made their home in rural Montevideo. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Anaesthetist. She was currently residing at Copper Glen in Montevideo. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher, a quilter, active in Claudia Circle and the women’s group, having served as President a number of years ago. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, homemaking and traveling.
She is survived by a brother, Ray Norrgard of Brainerd, MN; a sister, Joyce Burkhalter of Natchitoches, LA as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ellsworth earlier this year.
