Vernon Erickson, 82, of Montevideo died December 5, 1999 at the Clara City Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 1999 at 11:00 A.M.. At Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Michael Briggs will officiate and interment will be at Augusta Cemetery in Marietta.
Visitation will be at the church for one hour before services on Wednesday.
Vernon Leroy Erickson was born March 28, 1917 in Montevideo, MN the son of Rudy and Sanna (Hendrickson) Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1935. He was united in marriage with Lucille Larson, from Madison, MN, December 21, 1941 at Yuma, AZ. The lived in Sand Diego, CA before moving to Minneapolis in 1942. Vernon served in the US Army from October 1942 to April 1946 at various bases in the China/Burma/India Theater with the 20th General Hospital. After his discharge he worked as a salesman and as a field representative for G.C. Electronics throughout the upper midwest. He retired in 1979 and they wintered in Arizona and Mexico. They moved to Montevideo in September of 1996 and he moved to the Clara City Care Center in August of 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; one daughter, Kathryn Lopez-Serrano and her husband Fransico of Metepec, Mexico; two grandchildren: Patricio and Alejandro; two sisters: Esther (R.B. “Pete”) Remund of Edina, MN and Dorothy (Gregor) Weber of Phillip, SD; one brother, James (Darline) Erickson of Montevideo; one brother-in-law, Cecil Hawkins of Seattle, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Berniece Hawkins; and one brother, Charles Erickson.
