Vernon Kittelson, of Montevideo, died on Friday, May 10, 2002 at his home at the age of 77.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Wayne D. Kopitzke officiating. Interment was in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Vernon Harvey Kittelson was born on February 18, 1925 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to Fred and Lillian (Engleson) Kittelson. He grew up in the Big Bend, Milan and Watson areas and attended rural schools. He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in Europe and the Normandy Invasion. He worked for Farmers Elevator, Jacque Seed Corn and was a truck driver for many years before retiring. He was currently a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was a life member of the VFW. His first love was playing guitar and he also enjoyed playing cards and lefse.
He is survived by a special friend, Floraine Larson of Litchfield, MN; one son, Jerry Kittelson of Forest Lake, MN; two daughters: Janis Kittelson of Bloomington, MN and Linda Kremers of Waite Park, MN; nine grandchildren: Brookston Kittelson of St. Cloud, MN, Erica Harness of Stillwater, MN, Ryan Kittelson of Bloomington, MN, Adam, Andrew and Sara Kittelson of Coon Rapids, MN, Tyler Truex of Bloomington, MN and Kristina and Thomas Kremers of St. Cloud, MN; one brother, Allen Kittelson of Madison, MN; and one sister, Mary Carlson of Madison, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Kittelson; an infant son - Wayne Roger Kittelson and one sister, Leone Kittelson.
