Vernon Ervin Larson

Montevideo

Vernon E. Larson, formerly of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at Glencoe, MN at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 17, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating. Interment will be in the Appleton Cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to services on Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Vernon Ervin Larson was born on August 9, 1917 in Montevideo, MN to Nels and Alma (Johnson) Larson.  He grew up in rural Montevideo and was united in marriage to Bernice Mitling April 6, 1943 at Montevideo.  He served in the US Army in Korea during WWII.  They made their home in Montevideo, where he worked for the Montevideo Creamery for many years and later for Monte Block & Tile and Tebben Manufacturing, before moving to Glencoe, MN in 1994.  He has been a resident of the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care Facility for the past two years..  He enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, planting trees, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Montevideo; children: Kathryn Larson of Tulsa, OK, Kristin Clausen of Shakopee, MN, Brian Larson of Montevideo, Pamela Beck and her husband Robert of Glencoe, MN, and Mark Larson of Eden Prairie, MN; six grandchildren: Day Lynn Larson, Angela Harris and her husband Mark, Alicia Willsey and her husband Ryan, and Danielle, Courtney and Kyle Beck; two great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Madison Harris; two brothers: Cedric Larson and his wife Dorothy of Minneapolis, MN and Wendell Larson and his wife Edith of Dearborn Heights, MI; two sisters: LaVonne Black of Carlisle, PA and Winona Barton of Mills, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons: Bruce, Vernon Lee and Gary Larson; four brothers: Leonard, Edward, Earl and Henry Larson; one sister, Virginia Stayner; two half brothers: Reuben and Harry; and one half sister, Inez Johnson.
