Vernon Leonard Pearson was born on October 22, 1919, to Sander and Gertrude (Severson) Pearson, Sr., in Sparta Township, Chippewa County, MN. He was baptized at Strombeck Lutheran Church and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church of Montevideo, MN. He attended grade school and high school in Montevideo.
He joined the National Guard in 1938. He was discharged and returned to Montevideo in 1940. He enlisted in the Army in 1942, serving in the Field Artillery in the Pacific theater during World War II.
On April 14, 1944, he was united in marriage to Margaret Kvam. Together they have two daughters: Mary Pearson DeSoto and Elizabeth Pearson Storlien.
Vern was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed music, especially his years playing with the city band in Montevideo. He also took great pride in his yard and home. He was very dedicated to his church and the responsibilities that he was involved in through these many years.
Vern died suddenly on Monday, April 3, 1995, in Dawson, at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 12 days.
Vern is survived by his wife, Margaret: daughters: Mary (Roger) DeSoto and Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Storlien; grandchildren: Maria and Sarah DeSoto and Kala and Ashley Storlien; sister, Mildred Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and brother, Sander Pearson.
