Vernon Tangeman, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, December 24, 1996 in Willmar, at the age of 94.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 28, 1996 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Lois Knutson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church..
Vernon William Edward Tangeman was born July 29, 1902 in Pederson, IA the son of Fred and Louise (Rohlfsen) Tangeman. He was baptized October 19, 1902 and confirmed October 15, 1916 at Melvin, IA. He attended schools at Marcus, IA and Melvin IA. Vernon was united in marriage with Corintha Spencer March 5, 1924 at Sibley, IA. They farmed in Iowa until moving to the Watson and Montevideo area to farm in 1930. Vernon worked as a mechanic at Watson, Montevideo, and Benson. They moved to Parkview Tower in October of 1978. His wife died in 1985 and he continued to live at Parkview Tower until moving to Luther Haven Nursing Home in September of 1995.
He is survived by two sons: Roger and his wife Mary of Newport, WA and Duane and his wife Sandy of Eagle Bend, MN; two daughters: Mavis Koenen of Clara City, MN and Elaine Ryman of Bloomington, MN; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsa Schultz of Elk Creek MO; and one sister-in-law, Alvena Tangeman of Montevideo, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Corintha; one grandson; three brothers: Arthur, Oscar, and Ervin; two sons-in-law: Melvin Koenen and Robert Ryman; two daughters-in-law: Mary Tangeman and Vernae Tangeman; one brother-in-law, Arthur Schultz; and two sisters-in-law: Cecelia Tangeman and Bessie Tangeman.
