Rev. Victor Ovrebo, of Montevideo, died on Saturday October 12, 1996 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 80.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday October 16, 1996 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Lindhorst, Rev. Alvin Lewis, and Bishop Stanley Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Victor Conrad Allen Ovrebo was born on December 20, 1915 in Aneta, ND to Ole and Mina (Mortenson) Ovrebo. He was baptized at Sundahl Lutheran and confirmed at Ottawa Lutheran in Aneta, ND. He graduated from high school in Aneta in 1933, attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, for 2 years and graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN in 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Blanche Nordseth on June 8, 1940 in San Francisco and they lived in San Francisco and Minneapolis before he attended Luther Seminary and was ordained in 1950. He served congregations in Northwood, ND; Bagley, MN; Paradise, CA; Hayward, CA; Wadena, MN; and Madison, MN; before moving to Montevideo in 1979. He served as interim and visitation pastor at several churches following retirement. He was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and had been chairman of Luther Crest Bible Camp. He was a member of Rotary for 9 years in Wadena, MN and was currently a member of Kiwanis in Montevideo. He enjoyed working with stained glass, photography, and the history of the US Presidents.
He is survived by his wife - Blanche; by daughters - Carol Runyon and her husband Dan of Missoula, MT; and Mary Ovrebo Schultz and her husband David of Estes Park, CO; a son - Kenneth Ovrebo and his wife Jody of Canon City, CO; and 4 grandchildren - Dylan Vance; and Evan, Elliott and Annah Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Paul, Gerhard, Olaf and Rudolph Ovrebo and by sisters - Margaret Sather and Borghild Ovrebo.
