Viola Peterson

Viola Peterson died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Homefront in Montevideo at the age of 83. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Idstrom will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5:30-7:00 P.M. Viola Irene (Anderson) Peterson was born December 11, 1924 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of Oscar and Ella (Laumb) Anderson. She was baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church January 25, 1925 and confirmed at English Lutheran Church in Marshall July 10, 1938. She graduated from Montevideo in 1942. Viola was united in marriage with Dale Peterson April 4, 1951 at her parent's home in Marshall. They moved to Dawson, MN after Dale's discharge from the military in 1953 and to Montevideo in 1955. She worked as a cashier for Minnesota Valley REC for many years. Viola enjoyed playing cards, walking, fishing, camping, spending winters in Arizona, and putting puzzles together. She was active at Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she helped with funerals, quilting, and was a circle member. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Dale; her daughter, Debra Gerstner of Maple Plain, MN; and two granddaughters: Kari and Rachelle Gerstner. Preceding her in death were her parents and her son, Thomas in 1998.
