Viola Waldum, of Watson, died on Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 94.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 1:30 PM at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Watson, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Viola Theone (Teigen) Waldum was born on April 28, 1910 in South Dakota to Adolph and Inga (Iverson) Teigen. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended rural schools and Milan High School. Following teacher training, she worked as a country school teacher for a number of years. On April 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Waldum in Watson. They farmed in Tunsberg Township of Chippewa County for many years before retiring and moving into Watson in the early 1980's. She was a long-time and very active member of Zion Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Watson. She was a member of Ladies Aid and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, feeding the birds, she loved animals and was known as the egg lady for many years.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LeRoy in 1995; three sisters: Alice Olson, Florence Larson and Charlotte Solseth; and by five brothers: Clifford, Oscar, Arnold, Norman and Donald Teigen.
