Violet Eleanor (Swenson) Lund

February 7, 1907 — July 12, 2000

Violet Eleanor Lund was born February 7, 1907, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, to August and Bertha (Sand) Swenson.  She attended School District 58 and Dawson Public School.  She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson.  She worked at the Dawson Hospital until her marriage to Marvin S. Lund on February 27, 1929.  To this union four children were born: Kermit, Mercedes, Cordell, and Marlene.  She and Marvin farmed all of their married life until their retirement in 1972.
Violet died on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the Johnson Memorial Home at the age of 93.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Marvin; son, Cordell; son-in-law, Neil Johnson; sisters: Mrs. Annie (Art) Fredlund, Mrs. Hannah (Herman) Ronning, and Mrs. Nellie (Emil) Larson; brother, Albert Swenson; and foster sister, Mrs. Jennie (Herbert) Beecher.
She is survived by her children: Kermit (Phyllis) Lund of Dawson, Mercedes Johnson of Maple Plain, and Marlene (Holden) Nelson of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Lund of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren: David (Mary) Lund, Karen (Neal) Senst, Bruce (Jeanette) Lund, Stephen (Andrea) Lund, Daniel (Jessica) Lund, Christine (Don) Gilson, Jennifer (Paul) Couillard, Sharon (Luther) Brown, Peter (Julie) Johnson, Patrick (Kathryn) Lund, Mark (Justine) Lund, Kimberly Miller, and Bridgett (Scott) Ouren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edna Lund of Dawson; other family and friends.
