Violette Seiler, of Clara City, died on Friday, September 7, 2007 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 5 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Violette Esther (Christenson) Seiler was born on February 23, 1921 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Elmer and Agnes (Bye) Christenson. She was baptized on May 26, 1921 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo on May 19, 1935. She attended rural school in District 88 and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1938. On September 29, 1940 she was united in marriage to Glen Seiler at the Rosewood Methodist Church. They lived in rural Montevideo before moving into Clara City in 1980. She was a member of Rosewood United Methodist Church where she participated with the women’s activities of the church. She was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Violette had been a member of the Havelock ABC Homemakers Club and the Clara City Busy Hoe Garden Club and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by five children: Gary Seiler and his wife Alice of Alexandria, MN, Joan Utecht and her husband Erich of St. Paul, MN, Ann Robertson and her husband Jerry of Montevideo, Judy VanHorn and her husband Brian of Alexandria, MN and Bradley Seiler of Clara City; a son-in-law, Jim Harvey of Willmar, MN; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Laura McDonald of Laguana Woods, CA, Ethel Johnson of Montevideo and Vivian Schwagerl of Simi Valley, CA; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen in 2004; a daughter, Vicki Harvey; two brothers: Henry and Alfred Christenson; and three sisters: Erna Bergo, Virginia Keller and Doris Regan.
