Virgil Meyer

Virgil Meyer, of Montevideo, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 75.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Rev. Jeff Fitzkappes will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Virgil Leroy Meyer was born May 11, 1943 in WIllmar, MN the son of Harry and Jenny (Wubben) Meyer.  He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City.  He grew up in the Prinsburg and Clara City area.  Virgil worked as an over the road truck driver for many years.  He later worked for J & D Construction and also for Friendship Homes.  He was united in marriage with Jackie Christensen November 21, 1992 at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo.  They made their home on a farm north of Montevideo and moved into town in 2016.  Virgil enjoyed puzzles, trains, horses and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie; children: Mardell Rose, of Clarksville, TN, Tim Grothaus, Jessica (Jonathan) Foley of Marshall, MN, Al Golla, Jr. of Montevideo, Robert (Linda) Golla of Freeport, MN, Gilbert Golla of Sauk Rapids, MN,  Ray (Heather) Golla, Foley, MN and Moriah (Dan) Kosloski of Grove City, MN; eleven grandchildren: Wyatt, Isabella, Liam, Devon, Abagail, Draven, Scott, Steven, Jasmin, Deakon, and TJ; one great-grandchild, Adam; brothers: Don (Lois) Meyer of Spicer, MN, Larry (Karla) Meyer of Granite Falls, MN, Vern (Linda) Meyer of Hutchinson, MN, and Mike (Sandy) Meyer of Stewart, MN; sisters: Edna Wolfswinkel of Alexandria, MN,  LaVonne (Larry) Via of Alexandria, MN, Lyn (Russ) Underdahl of North Oaks, MN, Val Zaske of Renville, MN, and Denise Meyer of St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters-in-law: Muriel Meyer and Viki Meyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings: Harry Meyer, Jenny Meyer, Herman Meyer, Jon Meyer, and Baby Meyer.
