Virginia "Ginny" Mae (Winge) Sabe

Virginia “Ginny” Sabe, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 72.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating.  Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5:30 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Virginia Mae (Winge) Sabe was born on August 6, 1930 in Montevideo, MN to Orgene and Velma (Wood ) Winge.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1948.  On October 2, 1948 she was united in marriage to Verlin Johnson.  To this union were born 3 children: David, Cathy and Jeff.  On March 22, 1967 she was united in marriage to Harold Sabe, and to this union was born a son, Tim.  She worked as a cook for many years at the Monte Drive In and Hi Way Cafe and worked at Hardees for over 17 years. She was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and has been a resident of the Clara City Care center for the past 2 1/2 years.

She is survived by three children: David Johnson and his wife Janet of Andover, MN, Cathy Haas/Teske and her husband Steven Teske of Odessa, MN, and Tim Sabe and his wife Sara of Clara City, MN; 12 grandchildren: Jeremy, Hilary, Jason, Eli, Heidi , Cody, Ethan, Jerry, Jonathan, Paige, Cole, and Carter; four great-grandchildren: Austin, Ashley, Leah, and Desiree; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Johnson of Montevideo; one brother-in-law, Harvey Hilden of Montevideo; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one son, Jeff in 1999, one sister, Ione Hilden; one brother, Marion “Gene” Winge; and a son-in-law, Tom Haas.
