Virginia B. (Lund) Eickemeyer, 74 of Sun City, AZ, Huntley, IL, formerly of Crete, IL, died at the Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL, on Friday, September 10, 2010, following a lengthy illness. Memorial service was at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 16, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating; Jill Christie sang "Jesus Loves Me" and organist, Jeanne Peterson accompanied the singing of "Children of the Heavenly Father", "Behold A Host" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Interment was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Dawson. Visitation was on Wednesday Sept 15, from 4-8 PM at the DEFIORE-JORGENSEN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL. A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, with visitation one hour prior at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church Street, Huntley, IL, with Pastor Charles W. Kittel officiating. Virginia B. Eickemeyer was born September 22, 1935, in Dawson, MN, the daughter of Vernon and Bernice (Sillerud) Lund. She graduated from Dawson High School and attended Rochester Junior College. She worked as a medical secretary for a short time in Lafayette, IN, before she was united in marriage to Daniel B. Eickemeyer on February 22, 1958, in West Lafayette. The couple made their home in Park Forest, IL, and later Crete, before moving to Huntley in 2000. Virginia was very musical, she enjoyed singing and playing the French Horn. She was active in the Sun City Concert Band and sang in the Trinity Lutheran Choir. She also enjoyed gardening, baking pies and swimming. She was a member of the Swimming Club, the Scandinavian American and German-American Clubs in Sun City, she served on the church fellowship committee and had served in the Crete Women's Club. Virginia, at the age of 74, died on Friday, September 10, at the Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL, following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband, Daniel of Huntley; her children: Richard J. (Mary) of Rochester, MN, David W. of Chicago, IL, and Karen B. Eickemeyer of Palatine, IL; two grandchildren: Jonathan and Christopher; her siblings: Kathryn Bormann of Madison, MN, Richard (Ann) Lund of Edmonds, WA, Elizabeth (Ronald) Erickson of Dawson, MN, Nancy (Russell) Kerwin of Bothell, WA, Steven Lund of Kirkland, WA, and Gregory (Suzanne) Lund of Snohomish, WA.
