Vivian Grinager, Willmar, MN (formerly of Dawson) died Sunday October 19, 2014 at Copperleaf Senior Living in Willmar, MN at the age of 98.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Rev. Kendall Stelter officiating. Interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens in Montevideo.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 21, 2014 from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Vivian Grinager was born on February 27, 1916 in West Bank Township of Swift County, MN the daughter of Martin and Clara (Snelling) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at West Bank Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On June 10, 1939, she was united in marriage with Helmer Grinager at West Bank Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born: Vernon, Darlene and Marlys. The family lived in Milan and Clarkfield before moving to Dawson. Besides being a homemaker Vivan worked at Johnson Memorial Home and was a store clerk for several years at Nicky’s. She enjoyed working outdoors especially on her flowers and working on puzzles. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren and their children. She was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church as was very involved in women’s group at the church and in the community.
She is survived by two children: Darlene (and LeRoy) Bergerson of Brooklyn Park, MN and Marlys (Bob) Ims of Willmar, MN; nine grandchildren: Valerie (Don) Taylor, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Grinager, Lynn Bergerson, Dean (Colleen) Bergerson, Lori (Scott) Meyer, Daniel (Lisa) Bergerson, Cory (Rhonda) Ims, Tony (fiancé Stacy Widmer) Ims and Brandon (Monica) Ims; great-grandchildren: Brenna, Jared, Darrell, Ryan, Sara, Benjamin, Cassie, Brandon, Zachary, Chloe, Alex, Evan, Liam, Alissa, Matthew; great-great-grandchildren: Bailey, Derrick, Fallon, and Ava; siblings: Myrtle Thompson of Appleton, MN and Victor Olson of Little Falls, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Helmer in 2008, a son, Vernon; siblings Clifford Olson, Melvin Olson, Walter Olson, Thelma Jerve and her twin sister Viola Thompson.
