Vivian Johnsrud, of rural Montevideo, died on Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 73.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 9, 2002 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Larry Gedde officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Vivian LaVon (Erp) Johnsrud was born on September 11, 1928 in rural Canby, MN to K. William and A. Loretta (Murry) Erp. She was baptized and confirmed in Marietta and attended Marietta Schools. She worked at the Red Owl Store in Madison. On October 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Melvin Johnsrud at the Arena Church in rural Madison, MN. They lived and farmed for nearly 55 years in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., MN. She was a long-time member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, quilting, baking, making lefse and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Over the years she made over 300 quilts that were sent to Lutheran World relief.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin; daughters: Deloris Hanneman of Prior Lake, MN and Jeanette Larson and her husband Dale of Beltrami, MN; sons: Donald Johnsrud and his wife Elaine of Johnson, MN and Russell Johnsrud and his wife Esther of Park Rapids, MN;13 grandchildren: David (Kristina) Hanneman of Ramstein, Germany; Laurie (Kirk) Kossan of Burnsville, MN; Kevin (Jill) Johnsrud of Graceville, MN; Michelle (Tory) Issendorf of Graceville, MN; Simona Massie of Park Rapids, MN; Trevor (Virginia) Massie of Bremerton, WA; Kristopher Massie of Faribault, MN; Scott Johnsrud of Park Rapids, MN; Jessica Johnsrud of Park Rapids, MN; Kristi (Scott) Christianson of Toronto, SD; Stacie (Jacob) Hoefler of Volga, SD; Stephen Larson of Plymouth, MN and Lisa Larson of Beltrami, MN; 9 great grandchildren; Brothers: Loyal Erp and his wife Lucille of Milan, MN and Glen Erp and his wife Margie of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Opal Siegert and her husband Wallace of Madison, MN as well as by numerous nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, William, Alvin, Charles and Warren Erp and by a son-in-law, Dean Hanneman.
