Vivian "Ma" Satre, of Montevideo, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia at the age of 83. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Matt Philaya officiating. Interment will be in the Clarkfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 6 - 7:30 P.M. and with an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Vivian Rae "Ma" Satre was born on November 25, 1926 in Reading, MN to Albert and Mabel (Baker) Ady. She grew up and attended school in Reading. On December 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Harland "Pat" Satre in Clarkfield, MN. They lived for a couple of years in Clarkfield and a few years in Bird Island, MN before moving to Montevideo in 1958. She was a school bus driver and lunch room supervisor for the Montevideo schools before retiring. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, a past member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, a past Matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past Guardian for Job Daughters, Fair Share Food Program Coordinator and a former Girl Scout and Brownie Scout leader. She was an avid supporter of Montevideo sports, especially baseball and wrestling. Ma enjoyed fishing, reading, playing cribbage and crocheting. She was a very social person, quick witted and will always be known as one of Montevideo's well known "characters"! She is survived by three daughters: Kristine (and Barry) Bahl of Sartell, MN, Sandra Anderson (and David Prostrollo) of Henderson, NV, and Julie Satre (and Bob Mercier) of Spring Hill, FL; five grandchildren: Heidi (and Richard) Liebig, Jennifer (and Jayson) Hron, Joshua (and Patricia) Anderson, Brian Bahl and Matthew Anderson; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Earl Kruse of Red Wing, MN; a sister, Donna (and Bill) Grantom of Eldorado, AR; as well as by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harland in 1990; a granddaughter, Amy Jo Stringer; two brothers: Robert and Albert Ady; and two sisters: Golda Brokke and Gladys Eckers.
