Wallace A. Berge, formerly of Milan, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Home Front First in Montevideo at the age of 90.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Rev. Kristine Isder will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Wallace Arthur Berge was born on November 8, 1925 in Edison Township of Swift County, MN to Selmer and Alice (Falmo) Berge. He was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church. He attended Milan High School in Milan, MN. Wallace was united in marriage to Mavis (Perseke) on April 14, 1951 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church.  To this union, a daughter, Carol and two sons, Arden and Vernon were born.  Wallace served in Japan during World War II and did a lot of traveling while enlisted in the service.

Wallace was a lifelong farmer.  He farmed the land, raised horses, cattle, sheep, milk cows, and even pigs for a short time.  Wallace liked to watch “Lawrence Welk” and “This Week on Wall Street” every week.  Wallace and Mavis were involved in the Milan Saddle Club and were also involved with Milan 4-H when their children were young.  Wallace was a man of few words but he did have a story or two he liked to share.  He shared a story of when he was serving in Japan when the ship came into the harbor, all the men rushed to one side and the ship listed to one side and nearly capsized.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mavis; three children: Carol and husband, Patrick Meagher of St. Paul, MN; Arden Berge and wife, Deb of Apple Valley, MN, and Vernon Berge and wife, Pat of Milan, MN; two grandsons: Brandon Berge and fiancé, Susan Schelinder and Justin Berge; a sister, Alda Behrens of Appleton, MN; sisters-in-law, Lois Berge and Inez Golden; a brother-in-law, Neil (Clarice) Perseke; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his twin brother, Walter Berge; brothers-in-law: Harold Behrens and Raymond Golden; and a nephew, David Perseke.
